In Nigerian football, you may not like Amaju Melvin Pinnick, you may disagree with some of his decisions or even question aspects of his tenure as NFF President, but one thing that cannot be taken away from him is his strong connection and influence within the CAF and FIFA football establishment.

Today, as Nigeria searches for a new direction following the recent crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation, Pinnick’s international relationships and experience are once again proving valuable.

Amaju Pinnick is currently in Switzerland alongside the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, members of the NFF administration and other Nigerian football stakeholders, engaging FIFA on the current state of Nigerian football and the way forward.

This is not about whether you like Amaju Pinnick or not.

It is about recognising the importance of having Nigerians who understand the corridors of CAF and FIFA, know the key stakeholders and can speak the language of international football administration.

Pinnick served as NFF President and later held senior positions within African and global football structures. He has also been appointed to influential CAF and FIFA-related roles, giving him a network that few Nigerian football administrators can match.
