TENEBE: BENDEL INSURANCE, EDO QUEENS COULD SOON EARN LIKE EUROPEAN TEAMS
By Ohis Asein
Chairman of Bendel Insurance and Edo Queens, Jarret Tenebe, has offered another perspective on the future financing of the two Edo State football teams, projecting that both clubs could soon enjoy financial resources comparable to their counterparts in Europe.
Speaking exclusively withfaksmedia.comin London on Friday, Tenebe said the development could become possible if the Edo State Government successfully brings Bendel Insurance Company back into its fold and implements a structured financial arrangement with companies operating in the state.
According to Tenebe, companies doing business with Edo State could be required to enter into bond arrangements, with the proceeds potentially generating billions of naira for the state.
He explained that part of the revenue generated through such an arrangement could be channelled into Bendel Insurance and Edo Queens, providing the teams with a stronger and more sustainable financial foundation.
Tenebe believes such a structure could transform the financial capacity of the two teams to the point where their players and officials would receive remuneration that could rival what is obtainable among football clubs in Europe.
“If the Edo State Government brings back Bendel Insurance Company, the proceeds from the bonds obtained from companies operating in the state can generate billions of naira. With proper investment in Bendel Insurance and Edo Queens, the two teams can get to a level where they are paid almost like their counterparts in Europe,” Tenebe stated.
His comments provide a different dimension to the current debate over rewards for Edo Queens and Bendel Insurance, suggesting that rather than focusing solely on one-off victory bonuses, the state should consider building a long-term financial structure capable of sustaining its football teams and rewarding players and officials at a much higher level.
