NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL: MEDIA COMMITTEE MUST RAISE ITS GAME!
By Ohis Asein
The Media Committee of the upcoming National Sports Festival must urgently step up its publicity efforts ahead of the Games.
Honestly, I have never seen a National Sports Festival receive such poor publicity ahead of the event. The level of information and public awareness surrounding the Games is simply not encouraging.
A National Sports Festival is one of Nigeria's biggest sporting events. It brings together athletes from across the 36 states and the FCT, attracts sports administrators, sponsors, the media and thousands of sports lovers. An event of this magnitude deserves aggressive publicity and sustained public engagement.
Unfortunately, the apparent silence surrounding the upcoming edition is beginning to raise concerns, with some sections of the sports community now expressing doubts about whether the Games will go ahead as planned.
The Media Committee must wake up to its responsibility! There is still time to change the narrative through regular updates, press releases, media briefings, interviews, promotional campaigns and strategic engagement with sports journalists and media organisations.
Publicity is not a minor aspect of organising a National Sports Festival; it is a critical part of its success.
The Games must not only be organised; Nigerians must also feel their presence before the opening ceremony.
