PRESS STATEMENT
The Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) has received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden passing of our Vice President, Alhaji Bashir Mai Zaire, who until his death also served as Secretary of the Kano State Sports Commission.
His sudden departure is a painful and devastating loss, not only to his immediate family but also to the Karate Federation of Nigeria, the Kano State sporting community, and the Nigerian sports fraternity at large.
Alhaji Bashir Mai Zaire was a respected member of the Federation's leadership whose commitment to sports administration and the development of karate in Nigeria will be remembered. His passing has created a painful void in our Federation.
On behalf of the Board and the entire karate family in Nigeria, I extend our deepest condolences to his immediate family, the Kano State Sports Commission, the Kano State Karate Association, his colleagues, friends, and associates.
As a mark of respect and solidarity with the bereaved family, I have delegated Mr. Yusuf Shekarau to represent the Karate Federation of Nigeria at the funeral rites and personally convey our condolences.
At this difficult moment, I call on all Board members, athletes, coaches, referees, officials, state associations, and stakeholders across the country to remember his family in their prayers and honour his memory.
The Federation shall observe a minute of silence at its next official gathering in honour of our departed Vice President.
May Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and grant his family and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.
