The Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) has dismissed as false a purported notice claiming that Mr. Dave Jegede remains suspended and has no authority to represent or conduct activities on behalf of the Federation.

In an official public notice, the KFN said the statement attributed to Mr. Bakare Suleiman does not represent the current position or decision of the Federation’s Executive Board.

According to the Federation, the issue was formally reviewed at its Executive Board meeting held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, where the Board resolved that Jegede’s earlier suspension was not effected in accordance with the prescribed procedure.

The Board consequently set aside the suspension and reinstated Dave Jegede to all KFN activities, directing the Secretary General to formally communicate the decision.

More importantly, the KFN said the Executive Board at the same meeting approved the appointment of Dave Jegede as the Technical Director of the Karate Federation of Nigeria and directed the Secretary General to issue his formal appointment letter.

The Federation further clarified that the purported notice issued by Bakare Suleiman was not an authorised KFN communication, stressing that official administrative correspondence must be issued through the Office of the Secretary General under the direction of the President and in accordance with the Federation’s Constitution.

The KFN therefore urged athletes, coaches, clubs, State Associations, officials, sponsors and other stakeholders to disregard the purported notice concerning Jegede’s status.

The Federation reaffirmed that Dave Jegede has been duly reinstated and approved by the Executive Board as the Technical Director of the Karate Federation of Nigeria.

The KFN also reiterated its commitment to due process, institutional discipline, transparency, unity and adherence to decisions taken by its duly constituted Executive Board.
