Ilaboya Congratulates Bendel Insurance on NPFL Opening-Day Victory Over Warri Wolves

The Executive Director representing the good people of Edo North at the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Frank Ilaboya, has congratulated Bendel Insurance FC on their impressive 2–1 comeback victory over Warri Wolves in the opening week of the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Speaking tofaksmedia.comon Monday in Benin City, the former Edo State Football Association boss praised the Benin Arsenal for showing character, determination and fighting spirit to overturn an early deficit against their South-South rivals.

Warri Wolves took an early lead through Towo Eventus, but Bendel Insurance responded with goals from Kayode Oke Solomon and Alex Oweiyalefa to complete a 2–1 comeback victory at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Ilaboya described the performance as a strong indication of the team's determination to make a positive statement in the new NPFL campaign.

The 2026/2027 NPFL season got underway last weekend, with several clubs recording positive starts. Shooting Stars defeated Inter Lagos 2–1, Rivers United beat Plateau United 2–0, Ikorodu City defeated Ranchers Bees 3–1, while Enugu Rangers were held to a 1–1 draw by Katsina United.
