FRED NEWTON ERHUNMWUNSE CONGRATULATES EDO QUEENS ON SEMIFINAL QUALIFICATION

The Chairman of the Edo State Football Association, Mr Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, has congratulated Edo Queens FC on their impressive qualification for the semifinals of the WAFU-B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers in Burkina Faso, following their commanding 3–1 victory over ASEC Mimosas Ladies of Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday.

The victory marks another significant milestone in what has been a remarkable continental campaign for the Edo Queens, who have now secured maximum points from their two group matches, scoring an outstanding 10 goals in the process after opening the competition with a 7–0 victory over AS Garde Nationale.

Mr Erhunmwunse described the team’s performance as a bold statement of the quality, character and growing strength of women’s football in Edo State, commending the players and technical crew for their discipline, resilience and determination to compete at the highest level.

“This is a victory that goes beyond the scoreline. Edo Queens have once again demonstrated the talent, character and competitive spirit that Edo State football is known for. Qualifying for the semifinals of this continental competition is a significant achievement, and the entire Edo football family is proud of this team.

“I commend the players, coaches and officials for their outstanding commitment and professionalism. I also appreciate the Edo State Government, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State sports commission and all those who continue to support the development of women’s football in our state.

“The journey is not over. I urge the team to remain focused, disciplined and determined as they pursue the ultimate objective. We believe in Edo Queens, and we are confident that they can go even further.”

The Edo State FA Chairman further charged the team to approach the semifinal with the same confidence, unity and winning mentality that have characterised their campaign so far, assuring them of the support and goodwill of the entire football community in Edo State.
