OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso — General Manager of Edo Queens, Rollanson Odey, is confident that the Nigerian champions will overcome hosts USFA of Burkina Faso when both sides clash today in the semi-final of the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU Zone B qualifiers.
Edo Queens will face the Burkinabè side at the Stade du 4 Août, Ouagadougou, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m. GMT (4:00 p.m. Nigerian time).
Odey believes playing against the host team, in front of its home supporters, could actually bring out the best in his players.
“Playing against the host will make our girls raise their game. They know what is at stake, and I am confident they will give a good account of themselves,” Odey said.
The Edo Queens General Manager expressed optimism that the reigning Nigerian champions have the quality, determination and experience required to secure victory and move one step closer to qualifying for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
With a place in the final and a potential ticket to the continental championship at stake, the Benin-based side will be aiming to maintain Nigeria’s strong presence in women’s club football.
