Lucara Botswana Unveils 1,305.4-Carat Diamond, Reinforcing Botswana's Global Leadership

Lucara Botswana, through its Managing Director, Naseem Banu Lahri, has presented a remarkable 1,305.4-carat diamond to President Advocate Duma Boko and members of Cabinet for appreciation.

The extraordinary gemstone is one of the largest diamonds ever recovered by Lucara Botswana and is currently ranked as the sixth-largest diamond in the world.

Recovered intact using Lucara Botswana's cutting-edge X-Ray Transmission (XRT) technology, the discovery further cements the company's position as the only mining firm in the world to have recovered 10 diamonds weighing more than 1,000 carats.

Botswana continues to maintain its reputation as the world's leading source of exceptional diamonds, with 12 of the world's largest diamonds originating from the country, excluding the famous Cullinan diamond.

The presentation also underscored renewed confidence in Botswana's diamond industry, with the government and industry stakeholders working together under the "House of Botswana" partnership to strengthen global marketing efforts and maximize value from the country's diamond resources.

The sector has received another significant boost following the removal of U.S. tariffs on Botswana diamonds, opening new opportunities in the world's largest diamond market. At the same time, efforts are ongoing to expand Botswana's presence in high-value markets across the Middle East and the Far East.

Lucara Botswana reaffirmed that its partnership with the Government of Botswana ensures the country benefits beyond mining through revenue sharing from polished diamond sales. The company also reiterated its commitment to promoting natural diamonds, emphasizing their rarity, authenticity, and enduring value over synthetic alternatives.

The discovery is yet another testament to Botswana's position as a global leader in the diamond industry, with its natural treasures serving as symbols of innovation, partnership, and national pride.
