BREAKING: Tyla Drops Lagos From A*POP World Tour Amid Boycott Calls Over Alleged Xenophobia

South African music sensation Tyla has removed Lagos from the official schedule of her A*POP World Tour, with the December 22 concert date no longer appearing on her list of performances.

The development follows a growing boycott campaign by many Nigerians, who expressed outrage over alleged xenophobic attacks against Nigerians living in South Africa.

Neither Tyla nor her management has issued an official statement explaining why the Lagos show was removed, leaving the reason for the decision unconfirmed.

The planned concert had sparked widespread backlash in recent days, with social commentator VeryDarkMan warning promoters against bringing the Grammy-winning singer to Nigeria. He argued that Nigerians should not welcome the artist while fellow citizens are allegedly being attacked and chased out of South Africa, warning there would be serious consequences

if the event went ahead.

Several other prominent Nigerians also called for a boycott of the concert as a show of solidarity with Nigerians facing challenges in South Africa.

However, activist and presidential hopeful Omoyele Sowore took a different position, insisting that Tyla should not be held responsible for the actions of others. He encouraged the singer to perform in Nigeria, arguing that she should not be blamed for the diplomatic and social tensions between the two countries.

Part of the public outrage has also been linked to the case of Chidimma Adetshina, the former Miss Universe Nigeria of Nigerian descent, whose legal and immigration challenges in South Africa attracted widespread attention.

Tyla has not publicly commented on the controversy. Despite the removal of the Lagos date, she is still scheduled to conclude her A*POP World Tour with performances in Cape Town and Johannesburg in January.
