BOTSWANA PRESIDENT DUMA BOKO RECEIVES NIGERIAN BILLIONAIRE ALIKO DANGOTE

Botswana President Duma Boko has received Nigerian billionaire businessman and Founder/CEO of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, during a courtesy visit to the Office of the President.

The high-level meeting focused on opportunities for large-scale investment, industrialisation and stronger economic cooperation between Botswana and Nigeria.

The visit highlights the growing role of Africa’s private sector in driving economic transformation across the continent, as African countries seek to attract investment, develop industries and create more jobs for their people.

During the engagement, President Boko stressed the need for Africa to take greater ownership of its economic development by moving away from the traditional model of exporting raw materials while importing basic finished goods.

According to the President, Africa already has the ideas and opportunities needed to transform its economy, but the major challenge is implementation—turning those ideas into real projects, industries, jobs and sustainable value creation.

Dangote’s visit to Botswana is therefore significant, coming from one of Africa’s most prominent industrialists and investors, whose business interests span several sectors across the continent.

The meeting reinforces a shared vision of an Africa that can build, produce and create value for itself.

As President Duma Boko put it: “Africa must build Africa.” 🌍
