The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) is set to kick off the second edition of the Anambra State Football League 2026, with the opening ceremony scheduled for Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the Awka City Stadium, Awka, from 3:00 p.m..

The competition, which is being organised under the auspices of the Anambra State Football Association, is designed to promote grassroots football development, discover emerging talents and use the sport as a tool for youth empowerment and community unity across the state.

The 2026 edition is proudly sponsored by Ichie Jim Martin Akubudike, through Akubudike Energy Ltd, with the tournament expected to attract teams and young football talents from different communities in Anambra State.

The sponsor, identified on the promotional material as Ichie Jim Martin Nwabueze Akubudike, is partnering with the Anambra State Government and the Anambra State Football Association in the development of the league.

The Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, is also featured as one of the key figures behind the competition, which carries the message of using football to bring young people together and create opportunities through the game.

According to the organisers, the league will focus on talent discovery, community unity, youth empowerment, grassroots development, exciting competition, entertainment and cultural displays, and fair play.
