First Vice President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Alhaji Abubakar Ladan Zurmi, has expressed confidence that Team Nigeria's athletics contingent will win more gold medals before the end of the Commonwealth Games.
Speaking exclusively to FAKS MEDIA, Zurmi said Nigeria still has strong medal prospects, particularly with Samuel Ogazi, Udodi Onwuzurike, and the mixed 4×400m relay team set to compete in their respective finals.
"I can assure you of at least two more gold medals," Zurmi said confidently, adding that the athletes are in excellent form and capable of delivering outstanding performances for Nigeria.
The AFN First Vice President also congratulated Chukwuebuka Enekwechi on winning the men's shot put gold medal, describing the achievement as a reward for years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
"Chukwuebuka has worked tirelessly for this moment. At the last Commonwealth Games, he finished fourth, but this time he returned stronger and deservedly won the gold medal. We are all proud of him," Zurmi stated.
Zurmi further commended the entire Nigerian athletics team for their impressive performances and expressed optimism that they would continue making the country proud before the Games conclude.
